Certified onion sets can be used for both dry and fresh onion production. They are available in various sizes—known as calibers—with the price inversely related to the size of the sets. Specifically, the smallest caliber has the highest price, as it contains more pieces per kilogram and is preferred by professionals. The use of certified onion sets ensures fewer male plants, uniformity in production, and a time advantage. The sets are available in different bulb colors: bronze-yellow, red, and white.
